Action Plan for the Western Balkan Green Agenda adopted at the EU-Western Balkans Summit

On 6 October, political leaders adopted at the EU-Western Balkans Summit a 58-point Action Plan for a Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. Our infographic gives an overview of the indicative timeframe of the foreseen measures.

Almost one year after signing the Sofia Declaration in 2020, the Western Balkans leaders agreed with the European Union to implement Balkan Green Energy News.


The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) has prepared the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Sofia Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans 2021-2030. Two days ago, the document was adopted in Slovenia at the EU-Western Balkans Summit.


The 58-point Action Plan bases on five pillars - decarbonisation, circular economy, depollution, sustainable agriculture and protection of nature and biodiversity. Carbon pricing, coal phaseout plans, regional integration, pollution control and environmental protection are the most crucial segments of the Action Plan.
